Nathan Nowain, MA
Nathan Nowain is a PsyD doctoral student at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology, specializing in evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, and families. He has extensive experience treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety, and specific phobias), and tic disorders. Nathan is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and has provided individual and group therapy for children and teens at the UCLA Child OCD, Anxiety, and Tic Disorders Clinic. He has also served as a therapist at the UCLA Pediatric OCD Intensive Outpatient Program, working with youth and their families in higher-acuity care.
Nathan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science with a specialization in Neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and went on to complete a Master of Arts in Psychology at Pepperdine. Before beginning his doctoral training, he worked as a behavioral technician, providing in-home and school-based support to children with autism and behavioral challenges. He also worked as a behavioral coach and research assistant at the UCLA PEERS Clinic, where he provided evidence-based social skills training to adolescents and young adults seeking to develop and maintain close friendships and romantic relationships. These formative experiences helped solidify his passion for working with children, teens, and families.
Outside of his clinical work, Nathan enjoys hosting game nights, playing video games, collecting and listening to vinyl records, and going to live concerts.
Nathan Nowain practices under the supervision of Dr. Danielle Cornacchio and Dr. Lindsey Bergman.
