Training Experiences:
Behavioral treatment for selective mutism
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for early child disruptive behavior disorders
Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) treatment for child & teen OCD
Intensive treatment (IOP) for OCD and selective mutism
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for child and teen anxiety.
The WaveMind Clinic is hiring a post-doctoral candidate to join a fun and passionate team of mental health professionals specializing in evidence-based treatment for child anxiety, selective mutism, OCD, and behavior disorders. This post-doctoral experience will include training in and opportunity for certification in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for early childhood behavior problems, through co-therapy with expert PCIT therapists, observation, and weekly didactics. The post-doctoral trainee will also learn how to assess and treat childhood selective mutism, a severe and low base-rate anxiety disorder characterized by inability to speak in social settings. Further, the post-doc will have the opportunity to learn PCIT adaptations for early child anxiety, and CBT for child and teen anxiety disorders. The post-doc trainee will gain experience treating severe OCD and anxiety through participation in WaveMind’s intensive outpatient program (IOP) for OCD and anxiety, which occurs 4 afternoons per week (the post-doc will participate in 2 afternoons of IOP). Didactic meetings, individual supervision, and group supervision will occur weekly; often supervision includes live supervision and observation of cases.
Below is a break down of various activities the post-doc may participate in:
OCD & Anxiety IOP, including providing intensive treatment, supervising junior therapists, participating in rounds meeting (~10 hours per week)
SM Intensive Programming, including working directly with SM patients in a group intensive format, leading group activities, and supervising junior therapists (~4 hours per month)
Direct individual therapy, including selective mutism, PCIT, OCD, and anxiety cases; you may request other cases that you have further expertise in if agreed upon with a supervisor (~20 hours per week)
Didactic Training (~2-3 hours per week)
Supervision, including individual supervision and group supervision (~2-3 hours per week)
Administrative tasks, such as session preparation and note-writing (~5 hours per week)

Requirements:
PhD or PsyD from an accredited institution (or expected graduation by the start date)
Prior experience with cognitive behavioral therapy/evidence-based treatment for children and teens

Our office is located in West LA, so the majority of the post-doc’s time will be spent in West LA, with some opportunity to work remotely with telehealth sessions or occasional virtual meetings.
