Gwen McInnes, PsyD
Dr. Gwen McInnes is a post-doctoral fellow specializing in evidence-based treatments for children and adolescents with a range of behavioral and emotional disorders. Gwen has extensive experience in treating children and adolescents with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and various anxiety disorders (i.e., separation, social anxiety) via Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT), as well as behavior disorders (ODD, ADHD, etc.) Gwen gained training with exposure and response prevention (ERP) at UCLA Semel’s Child OCD Intensive Outpatient Program. She has also co-lead exposure groups for children with anxiety disorders, OCD, and misophonia. Gwen also specializes in treating young children with behavioral challenges and selective mutism using Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. Gwen has a passion for supporting children and families with their challenges!
Gwen completed her APA accredited predoctoral internship at Baylor College of Medicine, where she specialized in treatment for children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety, OCD, BFRBs (skin picking and hair pulling), and misophonia. Gwen previously received her Bachelor’s degree from California Lutheran University in Psychology with an emphasis in child and adolescent development. Prior to her career as a therapist, Gwen worked as an intern providing assistance to school based mental health practitioners and coordinators for Big Brothers Big Sisters at a Family Service Agency. Following this, she worked as a behavioral technician providing applied behavioral analysis (ABA) to children ages 2 to 16. She then went on to receive her masters degree from University of La Verne where she is currently completing her doctorate degree in clinical psychology. Throughout her training Gwen has worked with various diagnoses and levels of care across college counseling centers, intensive outpatient programs, hospital settings, school based care, home based care, and private practice.
Gwen loves to read books, travel, walk her dogs, spend time with her friends/family, and try new desserts (especially those that have chocolate in them)!
